NEWS: Fetterman Endorsed By Planned Parenthood Action Fund [1]

Braddock, PA -- Pennsylvania Lt. Governor John Fetterman on Wednesday received the endorsement of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund in the Pennsylvania Senate Race. The endorsement comes only a month after the Supreme Court’s decision on overturning Roe v. Wade was leaked, and as a final decision on Roe’s future is expected in the coming days or weeks.



“It is a true honor to have Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s endorsement in this race. The right to an abortion is non-negotiable. With the Supreme Court preparing to overturn Roe v. Wade, we need to codify the right to an abortion into law. Abortions will happen whether it’s legal or not, they just won’t be safe if Roe is overturned. When I’m your next U.S. Senator, I will vote to eliminate the filibuster and protect the right to an abortion,” said Lt. Gov. John Fetterman. “And let’s be clear, Mehmet Oz is hellbent on overturning Roe v. Wade, he supports banning abortions with no exceptions for rape or incest. His views are not only dangerous, but they are deeply out of step with the people of Pennsylvania.”



“Now more than ever, Pennsylvanians need representation that supports their right to abortion. With the Supreme Court likely to overturn Roe in the coming days or weeks, it’s clear we must elect more leaders who will vote to protect the right to make decisions about our own bodies and futures,” said Alexis McGill Johnson, president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “John Fetterman has made the commitment to do just that if elected to the Senate, and Planned Parenthood Action Fund looks forward to helping him get elected.”



Fetterman has long supported codifying the right to an abortion into federal law. He even said in his 2016 Senate run that supporting Roe v. Wade was a core litmus test for any Supreme Court Justice to receive his vote.



In his 2022 Senate campaign, Fetterman has received endorsements from President Joe Biden; Senator Bob Casey; Reps. Madeleine Dean, Chrissy Houlahan, Mary Gay Scanlon, and Susan Wild; the Pennsylvania Postal Workers Union; the United Steelworkers District 10; the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1776; AFSCME District Council 47; SEIU Pennsylvania District Council; Council for a Livable World; End Citizens United // Let America Vote; Giffords PAC; and the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund.
