Cuba reported 919 cases of Covid-19 and three deaths – Canal Caribe

Cuba confirmed this Wednesday 919 new positive cases of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19, a drop of a thousand for the first time since last January 16th.

The number of positives means 99 fewer than the previous day, a sign of the sustained trend to control the disease, according to data from the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap), which regretted three deaths in the last 24 hours.

The admitted patients decreased by 585 to 16,261, of which 10,077 were suspected, 120 under surveillance and 6,064 confirmed active (670 less than the previous day), the State portfolio specified in a statement.

He stressed that the empowered authorities granted 1,586 discharges granted (667 more than those diagnosed) and to date there are 1,42,273 recovered patients (98.6 percent).

The health centers attend to 48 people in intensive care: 23 critical and 25 serious, while the provinces with the highest incidence of cases on the day are Matanzas (224), Holguín (137) and Sancti Spíritus (79).

This Caribbean nation accumulates one million 56 thousand 846 infected with the coronavirus since March 11, 2020 and the total number of fatalities reached eight thousand 450.

The data released by the MINSAP reported a lethality on the island of 0.80 percent, lower than the world average of 1.45 and 1.8 in the Americas.
