Russia will respond to US actions such as the possible expulsion of 55 of its diplomats from that northern country, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Riabkov warned today, quoted by capital television.

Riabkov said that if Washington insists on demanding the departure of the aforementioned personnel and they are forced to leave the United States, his country will respond with a countermeasure, said the deputy minister.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman María Zajarova recalled that the US embassy has 130 diplomats in Russia, while her country has about 200 in the US, distributed in the mission in Washington and in the consulates of New York and Houston.

Let us remember that Russia and the United States are going through a tense stage in their relations, after exchanging mutual expulsions of officials from their respective embassies.
