The Cuban population, however, has a “greater strength” with it from the vaccination campaign, but this advantage must be accompanied, Guinovart pointed out, with compliance with sanitary measures, so that the disease does not reach alarming figures. of propagation. “We are at the beginning of a new wave of infections,” warned the mathematician, who reiterated that in the long term the numbers of active cases would grow if the corresponding measures are not followed.

There is an undoubted advantage in that, as the expert reflected, more than 90% of the population is immunized and progress is being made in the booster dose, “so it must happen that this new wave of cases is not so high and can be controlled in the first months of the year ».

All the edges of the analysis, from the figures or from other conquests of our science, lead to a key word: responsibility. Because as President Díaz-Canel Bermúdez expressed on Tuesday, “the vaccine saves but cannot do the unspeakable”; In other words, it is necessary to help her with an attitude that does not neglect the measures implemented in these hard times of contagion.
