168 positive cases of COVID-19 of the omicron variant identified in Cuba. – Canal Caribe

At the press conference this Monday, Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), reported that this Monday Cuba has already accumulated one million confirmed cases with COVID19 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

Cuba identified, at the end of the second week of January (9th to 15th), 39 new cases with the Omicron variant and accumulates 168. According to the MINSAP, the sequencing studies of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the country are preliminary showing that the omicron variant prevails in the national territory, displacing others such as delta.
