Venezuela and Haiti: a sample of the double morality of the Trump administration

As we have seen in recent days, the United States continues with the escalation of pressure against Venezuela. The truth is that until now only accumulate defeats, the attempt of a coup d’etat with a president appointed by the Department of State did NOT work. The economic pressures against PDVSA, through its subsidiary CITGO in North American territory, either.

The economic suffocation against Venezuela

The blockade of accounts in American and European banks and all the attempts of economic suffocation against the Bolivarian nation have NOT had the desired effect for Washington. Although they affect the people with the deficiencies imposed by an economic and financial blockade, they have not been able to break the will of a people that has shown reserves to fight for their sovereignty.

Now, Trump following the oil route, press with the possibility (always on the table) of a military option. Press media confirm the displacements of US troops, to militarily encircle Venezuela under the pretext of a supposed “humanitarian intervention.”

Once again, the resource spent and sterile for the villages to help through humanitarian intervention. How many examples are there in the war history of the United States against Latin America. The protests against the high cost of living, corruption, the social and economic crisis and the absence of a model of a nation have already gone on for ten intense days, and nothing seems to indicate that they are going to stop. The causes of shortages have many parents, but before this, monopolies, without remorse, set accounts grinding the teeth of the entire population with its power to paralyze the country. While the international agenda persists in turning its gaze towards Venezuela, the serious Haitian crisis passes, once again, practically unnoticed. In Haiti, how they intend to do with Venezuela, the so-called “humanitarian aid” has been nothing more than an alibi to violate territorial sovereignty and dispose of resources in a way that is functional to imperial projects. The small Caribbean nation is today a sample of what “humanitarian capitalism” could generate in Venezuela.
