Date: 2021-11
The José María Heredia high school, affected by the tornado that hit this capital last January, hosted this Monday the National Act of the 2019-2020 academic year.
This was possible thanks to an intense work of total repair and conditioning that involved working groups, institutions, organizations and parents.
According to Yoania Falcón, director of Education of Havana, this effort allowed us to face the obstacles imposed on the country by a complex economic situation derived from the US blockade against the island, which is intensifying the administration of Donald Trump.
This commitment commits us more to the elevation of the quality of education, the care of educational means and the integral training of students, he said.
Students recognize the work of builders
Amanda Rodríguez, in the ninth grade, expressed the commitment of the more than 300 students of the center to honor the work done to guarantee the necessary conditions, and compared the strength of the unit and the solidarity displayed with that of the tornado.
He recalled that some of the children who are now enrolled in the school were also affected in their homes, and the collective will to resolve that situation allowed them to be in the classroom today.
In addition, the Labor Deed Flag was distinguished to companies that ensured the preparation of school uniforms and the assurance of the material base of study for the realization of this school year throughout the country. According to the Ministry of Education, more than one million 700 thousand Cuban students start the 2019-2020 school year on Monday, a figure slightly higher than the previous school year.
