The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, reported this Sunday that the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, PSUV is preparing for the primary elections open for next August 8. President Maduro asserted that the day has the support of the electoral authorities of Venezuela. He also congratulated all the candidates for the campaign and added that in several states there were intense debates that enrich the country’s democracy.

The day takes place on the eve of the mega-elections on November 21, where Venezuelans will elect new authorities in the 23 Governors and 335 Mayors, as well as 251 representatives to the Legislative Councils and 2,459 Municipal Councils.

The popular consultation held this Sunday in Mexico obtained the YES with 97.7 percent acceptance of the participants. 97.5 percent of the minutes were computed. This is the first Popular Consultation 2021, which takes place in the country, through which it is intended to prosecute former presidents who committed crimes against the State.

However, for the result to be binding a participation of 40% of the citizens was needed and until now only the participation of 6.95% of the electoral roll has been reported. The president of the Morena party, Mario Delgado, to which the president Andrés Manuel López Obrador belongs, assured on his Twitter account that Sunday was “a great day for Mexican democracy, he won the Yes and begins a new stage against impunity in our country where the victims will be at the center ”.

The group that promoted this exercise proposed to initiate a process for the creation of a people’s court, as a mechanism to do justice to the victims of crimes perpetrated by the Mexican State.

China started the week under tension because 55 of the 98 cases of Covid-19 of the day are indigenous and caused by a re-outbreak with the Delta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, all linked to public places. Apart from the autochthonous, China this Monday counted 43 imported and 60 asymptomatic in different demarcations.

With these figures, the Asian country accumulates at least 5,637 deaths and 120,837 cases in its continental part. The entire country tightens epidemiological control because a further spread of the virus is foreseeable. China raised to 91 localities declared as areas of high and medium epidemiological risk.

The White House’s chief medical adviser, Anthony Fauci, ruled out on Monday that new confinements be carried out in the United States despite the advance of the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2. Fauci, the main person in charge of the fight against Covid-19 in the northern country, admitted that the epidemiological situation will worsen due to the havoc caused by the mutation, especially among unvaccinated people. He also regretted that one hundred million people refused to be immunized.

Only 58 percent of Americans received at least one dose. The number of infections in the country almost doubled, however, Fauci believes that the statistics are not as exorbitant as they were in winter last year. The Delta variant caused an increase in infections on most continents, forcing the world’s governments to impose new sanitary restrictions.
