['Please Enter Your Name Here']

Date: 2021-11

Fifteen children died from a fire that occurred Thursday at an orphanage without an operating license in Puerto Principe, Haiti, specifically in the Fermathe area.Local media suggest that it appears that two adults, who had a disability, also died in the incident.

The Church for the Understanding of the Bible was responsible for the illegal orphanage that burned in flames, and on which firefighting was carried out that took almost two hours. However, the information portal Haiti24 has shared that it is presumed that the reason for the fire was a candle that was left lit in an orphanage corridor.

The orphanage permits that the Church had for the Understanding of the Bible were withdrawn in 2012 because of problems with healing and on-site training. It should be remembered that Haiti has suffered a political, economic and social crisis since last year that has greatly affected the proper functioning of the institutions that house children and young people, among others.
