['Please Enter Your Name Here']

Date: 2021-10

How could Cuba strengthen the University-Company link, in order to stimulate production and therefore achieve social impacts? One of the possible solutions to this problem is the consolidation of Science-Technology Parks.

It is a type of organization managed by specialists whose main purpose is to increase the wealth of its community by promoting culture and innovation, as well as the competitiveness of its companies and institutions based on the knowledge that is associated or created in your enviroment.

Science-technology parks become facilities to promote the flow of knowledge that generates the connection between companies, research centers and universities. They are a kind of incubator, where projects are executed and new companies are born that contribute well-being to society, and that, tomorrow, will contribute to the economic, social or technological development of the country.

With these basic questions, we keep in mind that in Cuba today there are two science-technology parks, one in Havana, presided over by the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI) and a recent one in Matanzas.

The latter already has the first funding to support local development projects in important sectors such as agriculture and biomedicine. According to the Delegate of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) in the Cuban province, Dr.Cs: Oscar Luis García Martínez, the management of the initiatives passes through sustainable approaches and social sciences. In other words, multidisciplinary projects are being considered.
