Norway suspends AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines against COVID-19

Experts from Norway recommended this Monday to exclude the AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines from the Immunization Program against COVID-19.

In a press conference, the Minister of Health, Bent Hoie, announced that the Government will analyze the report of a commission created for this purpose in detail and will use it as a basis for adopting a definitive position.

The opinion of the experts coincides with that presented in mid-April on the AstraZeneca vaccine by the Institute of Public Health, which today also recommended that the Johnson & Johnson drug be excluded from the program.

According to experts, if people want to be vaccinated with these drugs voluntarily, they can. Norway is one of the countries least affected in Europe by Covid-19, reporting 116 thousand 443 positive cases to SARS-CoV-2 and 767 deaths to date.
