International Book Fair of Cuba with the assistance of Miguel Díaz-Canel

This Thursday, the XXVIII edition of the International Book Fair Cuba 2019 was inaugurated in the fortress of San Carlos de la Cabaña. The President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, was present at the ceremony. The President of the National Assembly of Popular Power, Esteban Lazo Hernández, and leaders of the Party and the Government, together with renowned intellectuals.

At the opening of the meeting, the Minister of Culture of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Azzedine Mihoubi, intervened, highlighting the friendship ties between both countries and their historical experiences in the struggle for freedom, as well as Fidel’s legacy as a major architect of these relationships. Mihoubi highlighted the continuity of the exchange through the Fair, which will allow to know the diversity and richness of the Algerian culture.

The inaugural words were in charge of the President of the Cuban Book Institute, Juan Rodríguez Cabrera, who made an account of the history of solidarity that unites the two countries and invited to celebrate together the sixtieth anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.
