Evo Morales seeks refuge in Argentina

Just arrived in Buenos Aires, former Bolivian president Evo Morales thanked Mexico and Argentina on Thursday for the support and solidarity, which allowed him to save his life.

¨ A month ago I arrived in Mexico, a brother country that saved our lives, I was sad and broken. Now I arrived in Argentina, to continue fighting for the humblest and to unite the Great Homeland, I am strong and lively. I thank Mexico and Argentina for all their support and solidarity, he said in a message on the social network Twitter.

On that same platform he also sent his thanks to Mexican President Andrés López Obrador, his people and Government ‘for saving my life and for sheltering me. I felt at home with the Mexican sisters and brothers for a month, ”he wrote.

Evo, along with his former vice president Álvaro García Linera, former ambassador Diego Pary and former ministers Gabriela Montaño and Amanda Davila today requested refuge in Argentina after the coup d’état in their country.
