44 new cases of covid-19 diagnosed in four Cuban provinces

At the close of yesterday, August 17, 1,186 patients were admitted to hospitals for clinical epidemiological surveillance, of them: 36 under surveillance, 626 suspects and 524 confirmed. For COVID-19, 4,294 samples were studied, resulting in 44 positive samples.

The country accumulates 336,333 samples carried out and 3,408 positive (1.01%). Therefore, at the close of yesterday 44 new cases were confirmed, with a cumulative of 3,408 in the country.

The 44 diagnosed cases are Cuban, of which 40 (90.9%) were contact with confirmed cases and four (9.1%) with an unspecified source of infection. Of the 44 confirmed cases, 23 (52.3%) were men and 21 (47.7%) were women. 50% (22) of the positive cases were asymptomatic.
