Havana already fills its lungs with the air of the film festival that the public expects most in this capital: the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, which from 5 to 15 will take the cinemas located in the circuit of Avenida 23, in tribute to the centenary of the birth of the renowned Cuban filmmaker Santiago Álvarez, and the 60th anniversary of the Icaic.Strong presence of Latin America, with 210 works
In this 41 edition, a total of 300 films from 37 countries will be screened, with a strong presence in Latin America, with 210 works, where Argentina and Brazil stand out as the most represented nations in the area. 21 fiction feature films, 19 short films and half-films, 18 raw operas, 21 documentary films and ten short films and half-films, 23 animated films, 25 unpublished scripts and 30 posters compete in this opportunity, Iván Giroud, director general of the Festival, told the press.660 works in competition
The screening of films on this occasion amounts to 660 between works in competition, special presentations, restored classics, cinema and television, gala, among others. The inauguration will be at six in the afternoon of Thursday 5 at the Karl Marx Theater, with the screening of the Argentine fiction feature film La odisea de los giles, by director Sebastián Borensztein. Likewise, the National Ballet of Cuba will be presented for the first time in an edition of this festival, paying tribute to the Premium Ballerina Assoluta Alicia Alonso.
