The quality of university education in Cuba and the high level of its institutions was recognized worldwide with five seats occupied in the World University Ranking Latin America for 2021. In the 28th position of the “most important ranking in the world is the University of Havana (UH), Cuban Higher Education continues to be a reference”, highlighted in her Facebook account the Rector of that house of higher studies, Miriam Nicado .
Likewise, it recognized the sister Universities, for the rise of four seats at the Universidad de Oriente (UO), in Santiago de Cuba, to occupy the 87th place on the list. In its official Twitter account, the UO congratulated the entire university community, a greeting that was quickly shared by hundreds of students and personalities, showing pride in that institution.
For its part, the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI) of Havana, indicated in that same social network that it maintains the third place among Cuban universities and improves its ranking in Latin America seven positions, until reaching the 123rd seat.
In addition, the Central University, “Marta Abreu” of Las Villas and the Technological University of Havana José Antonio Hecheverría CUJAE are included in the list. The UH is a cultural and identity benchmark for Cuba and the world, as well as the first university accredited by the International Evaluation and Accreditation Council of the Union of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Due to its academic excellence, the quality of its processes, the social relevance of its initial and ongoing training programs, and the results of science, technology and innovation activities, the UO is recognized nationally and internationally. While the UCI, trains highly qualified professionals in the IT sector, is in charge of the production of IT applications and services, serving as support to the Cuban IT industry.
The QS World University Rankings (QS World University Rankings) is carried out annually by ranking 800 world universities, arranged by various hierarchy criteria. Published by Quacquarelli Symonds, a British company specializing in education and study abroad, it aspires to be a sectoral, regional and global classification.
The calculation of the university ranking takes into account factors such as academic reputation, employer, and the ratio of international students and professors.
