The 102 new medical discharges of patients with Covid-19 in Cuba, in the last 24 hours, bring the total number of people recovered to 2,794, the Ministry of Public Health of this country reported on Tuesday.

¨This figure (102) is very favorable with respect to the number of confirmed cases with the disease in the last day (44) ¨, highlighted Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology during the usual press conference to update these data.

As the specialist has explained, patients who are discharged from hospital are transferred to their homes, where they will remain under clinical-epidemiological surveillance from Primary Health Care.

After 14 days, which would already be a month after the onset of symptoms, they will undergo the diagnostic test again to determine complete recovery and then they will receive the final clinical discharge.

Of the 3,408 people diagnosed with the disease since March 11, 524 remain admitted to hospitals (the so-called active cases), of them 516 with stable clinical evolution, five in serious condition and three critical. The day before, 4294 diagnostic tests were studied throughout the national territory to detect the presence of the virus, bringing the total number of samples taken so far to 336,333.

During the last day, no deaths were reported, which is why the death toll remains at 88 for the second consecutive week. Since the beginning of the pandemic, preventive treatment has been developed in this country by isolating the contacts of confirmed cases and suspected people. On the other hand, more than 20 products from the Cuban Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industry are used at all levels of care.
