Cuba champion in the U-19 Volleyball Pan American Cup

Cuba conquered another gold metal in a men’s volleyball event. The Antillean team was crowned in the Pan American Cup for under 19 years after a convincing victory over defending champion Mexico.

Only three partials needed ours to annihilate the actions in the Ricardo Arias Pavilion of Santo Domingo.

Markers of 25-18, 26-24 and 25-19 showed signs of superiority against their opponents, shown throughout the tournament by not losing a single set.

José Miguel Gutiérrez and Víctor Andreu led the Cuban attack with 16 and 12 points, respectively. Cuba registered 11 blocks and 9 points in the serve, in addition to a wide advantage in attack with 35 for 27.

GUTIÉRREZ NOMINATED MOST VALUABLE PLAYER

Precisely José Miguel Gutiérrez was named the Most Valuable Player of the event, while the national team was made with eight of the twelve plates presented to the best players.

Victor Andreu and Gutiérrez were the two external attackers, while Luis Vidal Allen excelled as a blocker.

In addition to his MVP badge, Gutiérrez was rewarded for the best service and his teammate, Eduardo Hernández, was the best opponent.

The other individual awards went to Christian Thondike, selected as the best usher and Ricardo Gómez the best libero. A sample of the Cuban talent in this sport, there is only work to last in the category of elders.
