Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez today rejected the recent ban by the US State Department on humanitarian cargo flights from the United States to the largest of the Antilles. The new measure is a ruthless act, said the head of Cuban diplomacy on the social network Twitter.

“The Trump administration reinforces the punishment of Cuban families in both countries until the last moment,” he also wrote.

Press media reported this week that the United States government refused to exempt two charter airlines from the ban on flights between that country and Cuba. “We received guidance from the State Department that the requests were not within the specified exceptions and that the granting of the requested authority would not be in the interest of US foreign policy,” the Department of Transportation (DOT) reported in a statement. quoted by Sputnik.

The two companies that requested authorization, Skyway Enterprises and IBC Airways, Inc., alleged that their flights were humanitarian in nature. This condition should allow them to fly to the island under the exceptions in the DOT charter suspension order.

The refusal is added to the long list of provisions of the Government of Donald Trump, which according to estimates by the Cuban Executive exceeds 120 measures from 2019 to date.
