Dozens of special operative groups investigated more than 18,500 complaints of abuse through the Internet, after which they made the arrests.
61 Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) programs have carried out a nationwide operation for two months that resulted in the arrest of approximately 1,700 suspected child sex offenders online.
According to a statement from the Department of Justice, the operation ‘Broken Heart’ was directed against suspects who produce, distribute or possess child pornography, participate in seduction on the Internet or in the sexual trafficking of children and travel around the country or abroad to Sexually abusing minors.
In its framework, 308 delinquents who produced child pornography or committed child sexual abuse were identified, as well as 357 children who “suffered recent sexual abuse, currently or previously, or were exploited in the production of child pornography”.
The publication states that in the operation, which took place in April and May, the operative groups investigated “more than 18,500 complaints of crimes facilitated by technology and directed against children,” RT reported.
