The visit of Fidel to Vietnam is remembered.

The office of historical affairs of the State Council of Cuba, commemorated today the visit of Fidel to Southern Vietnam in 1973, recorded as the first one of a government chief to that freed nation.
During a conversation made with the purposed of the 45th anniversary of this event, the office director, Eugenio Suárez, remembered that the ties between both countries are from that date on an example of support and loyalty.
According to Suarez, the highest expression of this is found in the phrase said by Fidel during his visit. ¨For Vietnam we are willing to give even our own blood.¨
In this opportunity, Fidel Castro assured that Cuba, despite being a small and poor country will participate in the reconstruction of Vietnam, said the Ph.d in History Sciences who also referred to the real danger ran by the statesman in that trip and to several anecdotes of the tour gathered by the press and testimonies of this period.
Other participants in the conversation referred to the links between both nations.
According to the architect Joel Diaz, author of a monument in Havana which honors the Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh, the friendship movements between Cuba and Vietnam has always been very energetic as to the solidarity and the international broadcast of the subjects of both countries.
On the other hand, the journalist Marta Rojas, first Cuban and Latin American correspondent in Southern Vietnam and Cambodia told stories of her work during the war and her impressions of Ho Chi Minh, to whom she interviewed.
According to Rojas, the leader assured to be grateful to Cuba for her solidarity. She quoted the example of the island in her resistance against the U.S and besides, she used it as an inspiration for the fight of the Vietnamese country.
The visit of Fidel Castro to Vietnam took place from 12th to 17th September 1973. As part of it, he took the risk supposed to be run while crossing the parallel 17th , the imaginary line which by that time divided the northern and southern portions of Indochina nation, involved in the war for the reunification that the U.S pretended and was a fiasco.
