Status of patients injured in the traffic accident of January 30th

After the unfortunate traffic accident that occurred last Saturday, January 30, at kilometer 42 of the National Highway, in the Mayabeque province, an informative part was established by the MINSAP on the state of the injured patients.
This part will be held Monday, Wednesday and Friday, until everyone is discharged from the hospital. Until February 3 at 10:00 am, in the Mayabeque province, in the General Teaching Hospital “Leopoldito Martínez” six patients are admitted.
Of them, two are in the Intensive Care Unit: one reported in critical condition, due to presenting an unstable fracture of the pelvis, and another serious due to a scapula fracture and hemopneumothorax.
Another four patients remain in the Surgery Room with multiple injuries, reported care and the medical discharge of two of them is valued for their favorable evolution. Last Monday he moved to the “Dr. Luis Díaz Soto ”from Havana, a patient with a lumbar spine fracture, who tested positive for COVID-19 after PCR. The patient remains in the Intensive Care Unit, maintains a stable evolution and surgery is performed today.
At the “Miguel Enríquez” Clinical Surgical Hospital, 10 patients remain hospitalized. Of these, three are kept in the Intensive Care Unit, of which two are reported in critical condition, both cases due to severe polytrauma. One of them has presented events of cardiorespiratory arrest, from which he has recovered with resuscitation maneuvers, but maintains an unstable evolution.
Another patient remains in serious condition, operated on for a pelvic fracture. Of the remaining seven, four are admitted to the Surgery room and three to Orthopedics. All are kept under treatment and reported for care.
Two patients are admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the General Calixto García Teaching Surgical Clinic Hospital: one patient with severe head trauma, reported in extreme critical condition, and another with a sternal fracture, cardiac contusion and bilateral hemothorax, reported in Serious condition.
The patient who was admitted to the Surgery Room continued to progress satisfactorily and was discharged from the hospital.At the “Juan Manuel Márquez” Pediatric Hospital, two patients are admitted to the Surgery Room, reported for care: an 11-year-old with pulmonary contusion and orbital fracture, and a 2-year-old with liver contusion and fracture tibialis of the left leg. Both maintain stable evolution.
Therefore, 21 patients remain admitted: six in the Mayabeque province and 15 in Havana. Attention by multidisciplinary teams is maintained for all cases, as well as information to their families. All resources for medical care are guaranteed in each of the institutions.
