Europe begins to get vaccinated against Covid-19

The countries of the European Union began simultaneously this Sunday the massive vaccination against Covid-19. The first to receive the long-awaited injection developed by the pharmaceutical transnationals Pfizer and BioNTech, have been the elderly who reside in geriatric centers and health personnel on the front line of the fight against the virus.

The vaccines will be administered to the 450 million Europeans in the 27 member states. Hungary, Slovakia, and a region of Germany were ahead of schedule and began vaccinating on Saturday.

The health and logistics operation is unprecedented and aspires to become the symbol of the joint and supportive response of the European Union to the largest pandemic in 100 years. Simultaneously and from the factory in the Belgian town of Puurs, the doses of the vaccine developed by the German pharmaceutical company BioNTech and the American Pfizer have reached all corners of the continent at the same time thanks to the mediation of the European Commission, which has negotiated the same price and distribution conditions for all the States of the European Union.
