Date: 2021-08
The Cuban baseball team fell seven runs by zero on Friday against its South Korean counterpart and said goodbye to the Premier 12 Tournament at the close of the qualifying round.
Those of the Greater Antilles connected only seven hits, insufficient to violate the pitching of their rivals that barely allowed a score in all three games of the preliminary phase.
Throughout the tournament, those led by coach Miguel Borroto, were affected by the low offensive production, mainly from their third and fourth bats, both with excellent results in the recently finished Japan Professional League.
The Antillean team arrived at the game with options to advance to the next instance after falling 0-3 to the Canadian national team in their debut, and impose themselves in extrainnings against Australia 3-2.
However, the low offensive performance again marked the performance of Cubans, and South Korea won a success that allowed it to dominate Group C, undefeated in three outings, and be included in the next instance with Mexico, Japan, Taipei from China, Australia and the United States.
Premier 12 will award two places for the Tokyo Olympics next year, one for the best team in America and one for the best in Asia.
