The current Cuban penal code, in its chapter 5, contemplates in its laws for pandemic time, sanctions for those who do not comply with the established. Today there are still citizens who do not perceive the gravity of the situation and violate the isolation measures. That is the case of six patients from the municipality of Sancti Spíritus who left an isolation center, who were diagnosed as suspected of having COVID-19, according to a report in the Escambray newspaper.

The response of the health personnel responsible for the Alberto Delgado school isolation center was immediate. They quickly informed the authorities and everything was activated, from the Defense Council, the health authorities, the National Revolutionary Police and the Attorney General of the Republic.

In less than 24 hours they were captured and sent back to the isolation center to meet the deadline set by the health authorities. Violators are not unpunished. The corresponding criminal complaint has already been formulated that within the Penal Code prevents a sanction of between three months and one year of deprivation of liberty for this type of conduct.

They could also pay fines of 100 to 300 quotas … The Office of the Attorney General of the Republic in accompanying the authorities in the battle for the lives of Cubans will act in correspondence to ensure that the laws are complied with and that public health is not in danger.
