From April 4 to 7, the city of Matanzas will host the 4th International Dance Festival “Miguel Failde in Memoriam”, which will bring together artists and groups from Mexico, Argentina and Cuba.
A tight program that includes a dance contest, book and disk presentations, lectures, children’s dance contest, presentation of papers, and concerts by pianist Alejandro Falcón and Argentine quenista Rodrigo Sosa will animate the four days, says Portal Cuba.

Performances by the prestigious orchestras of the patio Aragón, Acierto Juvenil, Riverside, Danzonera Cucalambé, Piquete Típico cubano, Septeto Santiaguero, and Miguel Failde, directed by his great-great-grandmother Ethiel, and the Mexican Danzonera La Playa, will complete the agenda of this event. The danzón, considered the national dance of the island, saw the light 140 years ago, on January 1, 1879, in the old Artistic and Literary Lyceum of Matanzas, current Room José White of this homonymous provincial capital, known since the 19th century like the Athens of Cuba.
