Indignation grows in Colombia after murder of social and indigenous leaders
['Please Enter Your Name Here']
Date: None

More than 60 percent of the social leaders assassinated in Colombia until June 2020 are peasants, indigenous people and signatories to the peace accords, according to data published by the Institute of Studies for Development and Peace.

These three sectors accumulate most of the selective deaths that occur in the country without the Iván Duque government intervening with an effective solution. Social organizations such as the ombudsman’s office urge action to stop the killing and respect the agreed agreements.

The region with the highest number of incidents is Cauca. According to analysts, different armed groups and paramilitaries converge in that municipality, which do not have a defined structure.
