Cuba develops possible vaccine against COVID-19

Cuba is making rapid progress in the design of a specific vaccine against COVID-19. Scientists from the Finlay Institute of Vaccines, in Havana, do not rest on this purpose, based on the centre’s extensive experience in this field.

This was confirmed by the president of BioCubaFarma, Dr.C Eduardo Martínez Díaz, in the checking session of the projects led by the Finlay Vaccine Institute, an entity with experience in the research, development and production of vaccines.

“Achieving an effective vaccine against COVID-19 is a priority for our entire science and innovation system at BioCubaFarma. Today we see at the Finlay Institute how solid and accelerated progress has been made in this project ”, the president of the business group wrote on his Twitter account on the social network.

In another message on this social network, he added: “These advances are undoubtedly encouraging and we will fulfill every step required for a project of this type.” Martínez Díaz recalled, however, that strict compliance with the measures issued constitutes the best and most effective vaccine at this time, for which he called for extreme measures to avoid contagions.
