The old “Prague” jewelry store on San Rafael Boulevard reopens its doors after an intense rehabilitation process. The space, which became a studio-workshop and shop of the renowned goldsmith Alberto Valladares, is integrated into the resuscitation program of the Havana commercial artery in the context of the city’s 500th anniversary.

Aguila and San Rafael is again a memorable intersection in the urban fabric of Havana. Once the threshold is crossed, the work of a unique artist is revealed: fine metal sculptures and silver jewels and semiprecious stones are an expression of Alberto Valladares’ sensibility that more than a goldsmith is a creator of beauty. The place became small to receive the affections of so many friends added to the daring family business.

In addition to serving the purpose of production, the space will become a gallery so that goldsmiths from all over Cuba can exhibit and market their work. Traditional goldsmith techniques born in Europe and here evoke the national soul. A new jewel is born in San Rafael, an expression of a genuine art that becomes universal from the large island of the Caribbean.
