US trial against Trump enters its fifth day
['Please Enter Your Name Here']
Date: None

The latest impeachment proceedings against former United States President Donald Trump take place this Saturday.

On this 5th day of the process, the House of Representatives receives the final arguments to condemn the former president for inciting the insurrection and provoking the violent attack on the Capitol in Washington, on January 6.

Trump’s lawyers are seeking acquittal, after several attempts to dismiss the case, and to present false complaints and allegations of Trump to his opponents and to the press. However, some procedural surprises are still possible, highlights the newspaper The New York Times, quoted by Prensa Latina.

Senators could vote today. To convict the former president, the Senate would need a two-thirds majority, meaning at least 17 Republican lawmakers would have to vote with Democrats. That difficult result so far, due to the party politics of bloc voting.
