Moscow warns the US against “imposing a blockade” on Venezuela, as expressed on Tuesday by Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Riabkov, who said that this week will address the increase in the “illegitimate” pressure of Washington against Caracas during a meeting between the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez.
An American web portal claimed that the US president, Donald Trump, had proposed to his advisors to study a maritime blockade to Venezuela.
In addition, the Russian deputy minister stressed that Moscow requires Washington to refrain from preventing the resumption of negotiations between the Government of Venezuela and the opposition in Barbados. “We call back the United States to abandon its imperialist ambitions, its attempts to impose certain internal development schemes or models on a sovereign State and, after all, to focus on not interfering with the negotiation process, but contributing to its effective advance, ”said Riabkov.
Bilateral relations between Venezuela and Russia Delcy Rodríguez will examine bilateral relations and the implementation of joint projects with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Ministry said. In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that “on August 21 in Moscow negotiations will be held between the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, and the executive vice president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez.”
