Cuban deputies analyze draft laws and socio-economic affairs

With the presence of the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the Vice President, Salvador Valdés Mesa and the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, the Cuban deputies meet on this day virtually prior to the Sixth Ordinary Period of Sessions of the National Assembly of People’s Power in its IX Legislature, in which they will debate on matters of utmost importance for the country and which places core problems of the population in the analysis of the highest legislative body.

Legislative activity begins this Monday, having as its central point the draft laws for the Organization and Functioning of the Provincial Government and the Council of Municipal Administration.

Both documents were previously presented via videoconference, first on December 4 to provincial governors and vice governors, municipal presidents and vice presidents, and mayors; and the following day to the deputies gathered in the Convention Center and in the premises authorized in the provinces. I

n the same way, they will know about the behavior of the Economy Plan for this year and the projections for the next, in addition to the results of the verification of the treatment of complaints and the proposals of the population, and the offices of the delegates with their voters. .

In addition, to promote citizen participation in this process, the full texts of the two bills were published on the ANPP website, and emails and a telephone line were set up for the population to convey their opinions.

This December 14, both rules will be analyzed, already enriched, by the deputies in search of consensus with a view to the Sixth Ordinary Period of Sessions, giving continuity to the exchanges carried out on the 4th and 5th of this month, stressed the Secretary of the ANPP in the Round Table program.

The proposals of the parliamentarians will be explained and the speakers will offer details of the opinions of the population received through the enabled channels. In addition, legislators will analyze the General Objectives of the Economy Plan.

Likewise, this Monday the commissions of Constitutional and Legal Affairs, and of Economic Affairs, will meet jointly, to which it corresponds to prepare the Opinion on the bill of the State Budget for the year 2021.

“The approval of the new bills would close the cycle of organization and improvement of the new institutional framework approved in the Constitution of the Republic”, assures deputy Carlos Rafael Fuentes León, vice president of the Permanent Commission of Work of Attention to Local Bodies of the National Assembly of People’s Power.
