Rubén Martínez Villena was a young Cuban with an impressive work as a revolutionary and intellectual. From a very young age he was linked to the fight against corruption and the submissiveness of the governments of the time, he led the Protesta de Los Trece and was the founder of the Grupo Minorista. He bequeathed well-known poems such as “La pupila insomne” and “El gigante. At just 35 years old, on January 16, 1934, the person who also practiced journalism as part of his revolutionary activity died.
