The US government imposed a new fine on a company for violating the provisions of the regulations that regulate the economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba. It is NOT an isolated action, it is part of the intensification of the fence to our country since the current president, Donald Trump arrived at the White House.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control, the Ofac for its acronym in English, and which responds to the Treasury Department, reached an agreement with Amazon, one of the largest electronic commerce companies in the world and based in the state of Washington, to avoid going to trial.

The company must pay $ 134,500 for offering services and shipping products to people and countries unilaterally sanctioned by the United States, including Cuba. So far everything very civilized, a replay of technical words, but in reality it is a new fine, this time to Amazon for violating the measures against Cuba established by the economic, commercial and financial blockade that has already lasted more than six decades. Technically it was an agreement so that the amount to be paid was less.

Of course, they also talk about which company also violated what refers to Venezuela, Russia, Iran, Syria and North Korea. The crime: because Amazon accepted and processed orders on its websites made by members of the diplomatic missions of Cuba … The violations took place between 2011 and 2018 and consisted mainly of transactions of low-cost retail goods and services … The value Total was approximately $ 269,000. The amount of the fine to Amazon –even– shows clearly that the alleged violations were not so serious, but reaffirms the marked aggressiveness of the US government towards everything that has to do with Cuba.

Since President Donald Trump arrived at the White House, he has sanctioned around twenty companies and banks for having commercial, financial and service links with Havana.
