The fifth meteorological event of the current cyclonic season has maximum sustained winds of up to 165 kilometers per hour, with higher gusts, making it a category two hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale of a maximum of five.
Its center was estimated at 23.9 degrees North latitude and 69.2 degrees West longitude, a position that places it about 335 kilometers northeast of the Turks and Caicos Islands in the southern Bahamas.
For the next 12 to 24 hours, it will continue with a similar heading and speed of travel, turning tonight to the west northwest, at about 19 kilometers per hour.
