A couple of twos and a couple of zeros combined: 2020. It was a closed number that was the perfect cap for the calendar and the beginning of a new decade.
The year of good sight! Some said. So no one ever wished that we could hug our loved ones, go to birthdays, cafes, cinemas; travel, breathe, have the vaccine. And it is that with the pandemic, streets were suddenly emptied. The children stopped going to schools. Adults to work.
We had to lock ourselves in our own homes to survive.Although we got to know those with whom we live better and as never before the eyes were a reflection of the soul, we also began to coexist in the virtual, and above all to long for the simple things, which we previously took for granted.
At last the “Annus Horribilis” closed, it is repeated in all confines, in all languages, and the first day of 2021 in Cuba lives under those echoes. With a message from the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the town received the 62nd Anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution.
Faced with ruthless harassment from the enemies of the Revolution, this semester we will be the only population in Latin America, and one of the few globally, that will be immunized with a nationally produced vaccine.
«They insisted on killing us; but we insist on living and winning. Cuba Viva jumped beyond its own possibilities, “Diaz-Canel just said at the closing of the National Assembly of People’s Power in its Ninth Legislature.
And yes, we have life, so the call is for us to take better care of ourselves and to take care of the family. Let’s do it and let the faith continue despite the blockade a thousand times hardened, let’s do it despite the media campaigns. Let’s continue giving the extra, that the combat does not end.
