At the close of the day on Wednesday, and for the second day in a row, the country did not report any critical or serious patients, while exceeding one million samples studied to detect COVID-19, since the confrontation with the pandemic began, and 391 were active cases, which represents 5.1% of the total of those diagnosed with the disease in Cuba.

The temporary working group of the Government, headed by the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, analyzed this Thursday, in the Palace of the Revolution, the epidemiological situation of the country, in a videoconference led by the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz , and with the participation of Vice President Salvador Valdés Mesa, and the President of the National Assembly, Esteban Lazo Hernández. The head of Public Health, José Angel Portal Miranda, reported that 8,864 samples were analyzed on the day and 21 were positive.

Of this total, 13 corresponded to contacts of confirmed cases, seven had a source of infection abroad and in one the source of infection could not be specified, for a total of 12 in that condition during the last 15 days. Four provinces reported autochthonous cases: Pinar del Río (9), Holguín (3), and La Habana and Las Tunas, with one each, meanwhile the balance of medical discharges, with a total of 29, was favorable compared to cases confirmed on the day. As has been customary in recent weeks, the province of Pinar del Río maintains the most complex epidemiological situation in the country.

Today, of the five active local transmission events, three correspond to the westernmost of our territories. Another figure that illustrates the current situation in Pinar del Río is that it accumulates 310 positive cases during the last 15 days and has the highest incidence rate in the same period at the national level. The largest number of confirmed is concentrated in the provincial capital, in Consolación del Sur and in Sandino.
