Chinese railway cars in final testing phase

Specialists of the People’s Republic of China, together with Cuban experts and engineers, assume the start-up of the first batch of new passenger rail cars for domestic trains, which will start operating this summer. 64 pieces are ready, of the 80 newly arrived in the country.
The Railroad: the most economical means of transportation
The start-up of the trains is scheduled for the summer, after continuing to complete the number of teams, through a schedule of arrivals that included on June 9 the unloading in the port of Mariel of a second lot with 24 cars, which they complete the 80 already in Cuba, of the more than 200 agreed with China.
Still to be defined, the prices of the itineraries are maintained, but according to reports, considering the economic aspects of rail transportation, they must be lower than those of national buses; as proof with passengers on board was arranged on the return this last Sunday from Bayamo to Havana, the trip exempt from payment in two cars of about 140 people.
In order to have an idea of the impact of the investment, the Havana-Santiago Havana Railroad’s flagship trip, today circulates with six regular pieces of general repairs every four days, and from the new service will have 11 comfortable cars with zero kilometers, to transport 720 average people on alternate days, which is double what has been done in recent years.
