The Central Unitary of Workers (CUT) and the Brasil Popular and Povo Sem Medo (People without Fear) fronts have called for new street demonstrations today and tomorrow to demand the removal of President Jair Bolsonaro.

The organizers reported that at least 70 cities confirmed concentrations, bicycle marches and public events, without crowds, to press for the opening of the impeachment process (political trial) against the president.

The national mobilization also includes the demand called Vaccine now and free for the entire population, the strengthening of the Unified Health System, the protection of jobs and the expansion of emergency aid in the monthly value of 600 reais ($ 110 ) until the end of the Covid-19 pandemic.

For the CUT and the social movements, all these agendas that concern Brazilians go through the fight for democracy and the shout Bolsonaro out in front of the new composition of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, more aligned with the government. To date, at least 70 requests for impeachment against the former military have been submitted to the legislative body.

The news portal Rede Brasil Atual assures that with the election as parliamentary head of Arthur Lira, supported by Bolsonaro, the reception of the complaints will become more difficult, although the movements believe in popular pressure to open the exoneration process. According to the site, the national coordinator of the Central de Movimientos Populares, Raimundo Bonfim, admitted that the new command in Deputies will be an obstacle, but ‘without mobilization and organization of events it is really impossible to even put the impeachment requests under analysis’ .

He insisted that it is “possible to go on a crescendo of mobilization and pressure to undermine Bolsonaro’s popularity and increase his attrition.” He denounced that 40 million Brazilians survive in extreme poverty and the 10 million confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been exceeded, with more than 240,000 deaths. “People are without vaccines, desperate, without finding a job, and Brazil has given itself over to this group of militiamen who have no commitment to the nation and the workers,” Bonfim stressed.
