The mother of the journalist Julian Assange, Christine Assange denounced that her son is not allowed to receive visitors, so even lawyers can not visit him in the London jail where he has been held since he was arrested at the embassy of Ecuador.
According to the progenitor of the founder of Wikileaks, this prohibition increases the tension and the conditions of isolation to which her son is subjected, who according to the doctors who examined him, needs to be immediately transferred to a hospital to receive treatment. Christine accused the Ecuadorian authorities of refusing to give him Assange’s belongings. The Australian journalist’s arrest sparked a wave of international condemnation against the Ecuadorian government, while in the UK many politicians, including Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn, expressed opposition to his extradition to the United States.
Assange was arrested on April 11 at the Ecuadorian diplomatic legation in London, after President Lenin Moreno decided to cancel the political asylum granted seven years ago by then-President Rafael Correa, expresses Prensa Latina. The cyber-activist was presented a few hours later in the Magistrates Court of Westminster, where a judge found him guilty of violating the bail granted in 2012, in connection with an accusation of alleged sexual crimes committed in Sweden. Assange was taken to the Belmarsh prison in southeast London after the verdict, pending the Crown Court’s decision, which, according to the British criminal code, could include up to 12 months in prison.
