The Cuban President, Miguel Díaz-Canel, held this Wednesday a meeting with the General Secretary of the UN, Antonio Gutierrez, who visited recently our country for the Cepal summit.
This Wednesday, during his intervention in the high level debate of the UN General Assembly, the Cuban President defended the multi billateralism and criticized the threats of the use of force, pressures, reprisals and sanctions that characterize in a more frequent way the behavior and the rhetoric of the U.S government.
Why don´t we finally finish the promised strengthening of the General Assembly as the principal organism of deliberation, decision and representation? questioned the Caribbean governor.
Likewise, he added, it should not be late nor avoid the reform of the Security Board, urged to be adjusted to these times, democratizing its composition and work methods.
Díaz-Canel also pinpointed the denouncement of Cuba against the blockade imposed by the U.S government for more than 55 years.
While concluding this intervention, the Cuban President gathered with his homologous from El Salvador, Salvador Sanchez Cerén, who declares himself a good friend of the island with which his nation keeps a fruitful collaboration.
In the morning, the official of the Caribbean nation participated in the plenary meeting of high level to commemorate and promote the International day of the Total Elimination of the Nuclear Weapons.
There he rejected the security policy and the military doctrines supported on the nuclear deterrence.
The Cuban governor develops a wide agenda of bilateral meetings in the UN, where is placed for the debate of high level of the General Assembly in its 73rd session period.
Since Monday, the chief State has held meetings with the presidents of Bolivia, Equator, Angola, Argentina, South Africa and Peru.
