9 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Cuba

The Cuban Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) reported on Wednesday that nine other cases with the disease COVID-19, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, were confirmed for a total of 57 affected patients.
48-year-old Cuban citizen, resident in the municipality of Mariel, Artemisa province. He arrived in the country on March 12 of this year from Miami, United States of America. He went to his corresponding health area last 22 for having catarrhal symptoms. It was identified as a suspicious case and sent to the ¨Luis Díaz Soto¨ Hospital, where it remains isolated with satisfactory evolution so far.
32-year-old Cuban citizen, resident in the Consolación del Sur municipality, Pinar del Río province. He arrived in the country on March 8 of this year, from Mexico. On the 22nd, she went to the health system where she was identified as a suspected case and referred to the ¨León Cuervo Rubio¨ Hospital. It remains isolated with satisfactory evolution so far.
55-year-old Cuban citizen, resident in the Arroyo Naranjo municipality, Havana province. He arrived in the country on March 16 of this year from Ecuador. On the 22nd he went directly to the “Pedro Kourí” Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK) for presenting catarrhal symptoms. He was identified as a suspect and was admitted to that institution. It remains isolated with satisfactory evolution so far.
Colombian citizen, 51 years old, permanent resident in the Arroyo Naranjo municipality, Havana province. He arrived in the country on March 16 of this year from Ecuador. On the 22nd he went directly to the IPK for presenting catarrhal symptoms. She was identified as a suspect, and was admitted to said institution. It remains isolated with satisfactory evolution so far.
44-year-old Cuban citizen, resident in the Matanzas municipality, province of the same name. He is the confirmed case contact whose source of infection was a group of Italians. It started with symptoms on March 20 at night. Last 21, in the follow-up of her family doctor, she was detected with respiratory symptoms and referred to the “Mario Muñoz Monroy” Hospital, where she was admitted. It remains isolated with satisfactory evolution so far.
72-year-old French citizen. He arrived in the country on March 13 of this year from France. He started with symptoms on the 19th. On the 20th he came with respiratory symptoms to the “Arenas Doradas” hotel office. He was identified as a suspicious case and sent to the “Mario Muñoz Monroy” Hospital, where he was admitted. It remains isolated with satisfactory evolution so far.
38-year-old French citizen. He arrived in the country on March 9 of this year from Paris, France. He started with symptoms on the 17th. On the past 18 he went to the International Clinic of Cayo Coco for presenting respiratory symptoms. It was identified as a suspicious case, being admitted to the institution. He moved to the “Octavio de la Concepción y de la Pedraja” Hospital, in the province of Camagüey. It remains isolated with satisfactory evolution so far.
Cuban citizen, 78 years old, resident in the municipality of Sancti Spíritus, province of the same name. He arrived in the country on March 20 of this year from Madrid, Spain. It started with symptoms on day 20 at night. Last 21, during the visit that the family doctor made, she was detected with symptoms and sent to the isolation center at the Faustino Pérez Hospital. She is currently admitted to the Manuel “Piti” Fajardo hospital, in the Villa Clara province. She remains isolated with satisfactory evolution so far.
Of the 57 patients diagnosed with the disease so far, 54 remain in hospital, of which two are reported in critical condition. Medical teams of specialists in Intensive Care and a Group of Experts from the Ministry of Public Health maintain permanent attention and follow-up.
The 71-year-old Italian patient, admitted to the Fermín Valdés Domínguez Hospital, Holguín, with a history of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, who was reported serious in previous days; It is stable and with satisfactory evolution. The rest of the patients present a stable clinical evolution.
In Cuba, 1,479 patients are admitted for clinical-epidemiological surveillance in the isolation and care centers created for this purpose; of them 116 foreigners and a thousand 363 Cubans. Another 36 thousand 526 people are monitored in their homes, from the Primary Health Care.
So far, 738 samples have been made to detect COVID-19, of which the 57 cases accumulated so far have been positive. To date, 169 countries have been reported with COVID-19, 378 thousand 041 cases confirmed and 16 thousand 365 deaths, for a case fatality of 4.33% (+0.01).
The World Health Organization reports 103 countries with transmission. Outside China a total of 296 thousand 293 cases and 15 thousand 982 deaths. In the Region of the Americas 34 countries and 12 overseas territories are affected. 54 thousand 313 cases and 700 deaths have been confirmed.
