The Venezuelan Supreme Court appointed and swore in new rectors of the National Electoral Council headed by magistrate Indira Alfonzo, who served as president of the Electoral Chamber of the Court itself, this, replacing Tibisay Lucena, who was in charge of the entity for 14 years.

However, the decision was not well received by all the opposition parties and has deepened the fractures within the anti-Chavista sector. Are the conditions for parliamentary elections in Venezuela given this year? What implications does the new CNE have?
