WHO warns that pandemic is far from over
Date: None
The Covid 19 doesn’t seem to end at the moment. Or at least that’s what the World Health Organization warned this weekend, when they exceeded 10.4 million; the number of people infected since the start of the pandemic.Meanwhile, the global number of deaths exceeds 509,000 and that of those recovered exceeds 5.7 million people.
The United States leads the statistics of active cases, today above 1.4 million, about 8,777 thousand above Brazil, which shows the worst situation in the south of the continent, with more than 554 thousand cases. Russia, well below that number, maintains some 225,000 active cases.India, for its part, reports today about 217 thousand cases, while infections are growing in neighboring Pakistan, which already exceeds 106 thousand.
Three of these countries, the United States, India and Russia, also lead the largest reports of new cases, in that order. Washington health authorities record some 9,000 admissions, while New Delhi reports just over 7,000.Russia is close to that figure, with 6,693 and Saudi Arabia reports 4,300. Lastly, Mexico, one of the most affected in Latin America, reports 3,805. The crisis caused by the coronavirus in the United States forced the authorities of that country to value the contribution of one of the most persecuted and vilified sectors during the Donald Trump administration: immigrants.
In the health sector alone, 17 percent of health workers in that country were born in other parts of the world … They mainly come from Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. Of the more than 12 million health personnel in the United States who work, more than two million are immigrants. In the health sector alone, 17 percent of health workers in that country were born in other parts of the world … They mainly come from Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. Of the more than 12 million health personnel in the United States who work, more than two million are immigrants. An article recently published in the American newspaper The Washington Post assures that, on average, 25% of doctors, surgeons and nurses were born in another country. Not to mention those who work in the areas of cleaning and maintenance, and home health caregivers.
Data that stand out when the coronavirus collapsed the American health system, and coincide with an administration that bases its speech on hatred, persecution, and rejection of those born in another country. However, there is an apparent contradiction in the official discourse. A twett from the State Department other countries, especially those working on Covid-19 issues, to contact the nearest embassy or consulate to get an appointment. Nothing more like brain theft.
This was criticized by a Chilean television station. Stealing doctors from nations with fewer resources to deal with the pandemic generated criticism. The American institution rectified its speech and said that they were referring only to professionals who had already applied to enter the northern nation.
But in the United States there are more than 11 health professionals, arrived through different routes, who cannot practice their profession locked in with immigration procedures. Another problem facing the country. Faced with this scenario, Washington’s hypocrisy calls attention when criticizing the Cuban medical collaboration against the coronavirus. Some 3 thousand professionals in more than thirty countries joined the 28 thousand who were already in 59 nations when the pandemic arrived.
Collaboration that does not affect health coverage in Cuba. At the same time as in the land of the stars and stripes, this overwhelmed health system before the covid-19 is supported by immigrant professionals, and even then they are not enough.
