Given the control of the epidemic of COVID-19, Cuba continues with firm steps towards its full recovery and this was confirmed this Thursday at the meeting of the Temporary Working Group for the prevention and control of the new coronavirus, when the decision was announced to gradually move on to phase three to the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud and to all the provinces of the country from July 20, with the exception of Havana and Mayabeque, which remain in phase one and two, respectively.
At the meeting – headed by the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez — the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, clarified that Havana and Mayabeque have confirmed cases in the last 15 days, while the remaining territories have not registered them for more than 28, equivalent to two incubation periods of the disease. He specified that the capital will remain in phase one until the health indicators of the second phase are met, in a sustained manner, for 10 days.
Meanwhile, Mayabeque will remain in the second until it stabilizes the parameters determined by Public Health. The other provinces and the Isle of Youth “will fully restore economic and productive activities, the opening of all gastronomic and commercial establishments, hospital care and face-to-face procedures for all service delivery activities.” However, he added, the suspension of carnivals and other high-call festivities remain, as well as the limitation of the services offered by nightclubs, depending on their formats and characteristics.
