Their Royal Highnesses, Prince Charles of Wales and Duchess Camilla of Cornwall arrived in Cuba on Sunday, March 24, a stay that highlighted cultural, academic and people-to-people ties between the United Kingdom and Cuba, as well as explore topics of the arts, the work of young entrepreneurs, heritage restoration and sustainable agriculture.

The President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, considered the visit to Cuba of the British royal couple an honor and confirmed that he would hold talks with Prince Charles of Wales and the Duchess Camilla of Cornwall.

Accompanied by the Historian of Havana, Eusebio Leal, members of British Royalty toured the Historical Center of the City, opportunity in which they could enjoy the architecture of the area, learn a little of its history and exchange with tourists.

Prince Charles of Wales and his wife the Duchess Camilla of Cornwall visited John Lennon Park in Havana, where they talked with members of the British community settled in Havana, and exchanged with members of the club of motorcycles and classic English cars. The distinguished visitors also got to know the details of the Yellow Submarine club, considered one of the rock reference centers in Havana, with recorded and live music, in which the legacy of the famous band they formed in the 1960s is revered John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

A great supporter of environmental causes, Carlos de Gales inaugurated the start of the construction of the first solar park located in the western Special Development Zone of Mariel de Cuba, which, after its completion, will contribute 50 megawatts to the National Electroenergetic System. The project is executed by the company Mariel Solar SA, a UK corporation with a 100 percent Cuban subsidiary and, in terms of energy contribution, represents the first large scale in Cuba and the largest in the region, informed the director of the entity, Andrew McDonald.For its part, the Duchess Camila of Cornwall held a meeting with specialists from various Cuban institutions in which they discussed issues related to gender equality and violence.

The headquarters of the Federation of Cuban Women, a site for dialogue, was attended by representatives of the National Union of Jurists, the House of Counseling for Women and the Family, the Ministries of Labor and Education, the Center for Women’s Studies, the National Center for Sexual Education (CENESEX), the Women’s editorial, project representatives and promoter artists. Prince Charles of Wales and Duchess Camilla of Cornwall completed their four-day official visit to Cuba on March 27, 2019. At the José Martí International Airport in Havana, the British royal couple was fired by the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Ana Teresita González.
