The President of the Councils of State and of Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez continues on Wednesday, in Beijing, his three-day visit to China. Today’s day includes a program of formal events and conversations with the main figures of the Government.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel met in Beijing with Wang Yang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the XIII Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

According to the agenda scheduled for this Wednesday and Thursday, Diaz-Canel will meet with the host governor, Xi Jinping, the Prime Minister, Li Keqiang, and the Presidents of the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Li Zhanshu and Wang Yang, respectively.

The signing of bilateral agreements and tours of sites of historical and cultural importance in Beijing is also underway.

China is the fourth stop of the first tour of the Cuban dignitary by countries of Europe and Asia after taking office last April. The journey took him earlier to France, Russia and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and will continue in the coming days in Vietnam.

China is the second commercial partner of Cuba and the commercial volume in both directions in 2017 was around two thousand million dollars.

The Antillean State values ​​the participation of the Chinese business sector in the process of updating its economic model, with emphasis on the realization of investment projects.

The sustained exchange of high-level visits has consolidated dialogue and mutual political trust between the two nations, which also support each other in international forums and maintain contacts on the respective processes of socialist construction.

China, in addition, always endorsed in the General Assembly of the United Nations the Cuban resolution that for 27 consecutive years called for the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States more than half a century ago.
