Latin America and the Caribbean is today the epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic worldwide, with more than three and a half million infections and 150 thousand deaths. A new report by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) predicts that as a result of the crisis, extreme poverty will increase this year by 28.5 million people, reaching more than 96 million.

The danger is still latent and we hardly have conservative estimates of the consequences of Covid, because the light is not yet seen at the end of the tunnel and the expected control of the pandemic at the regional level. The impact on population groups such as women is even greater.
