The president of the Councils of State and Ministers Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez, received in the hours of Thursday night the president of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Evo Morales Ayma, who made a transit through our capital, on his way to New York, where he will participate in the Commemoration of the International Year of the Indigenous Languages ​​convened by the United Nations.

During the fraternal meeting, both leaders welcomed the excellent state of bilateral relations and their prospects for development. They also exchanged about recent events in our region; They reiterated the unwavering solidarity with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and President Nicolás Maduro Moros, and agreed on the need to defend the principles of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace.

We had a pleasant meeting with the brother president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz Canel, in Havana, where we made a technical stopover on our trip to New York, the president wrote in his account @evoespueblo on the social network Twitter.

The Bolivian leader reiterated his solidarity with the Cuban Government and people for the material and human damage caused by the tornado that shook several territories of the capital of the Greater Antilles on Sunday.

Morales will be the main guest at the ceremony of the International Year of Indigenous Languages ​​to be held on February 1 at the United Nations (UN) headquarters, with the aim of drawing attention to the loss of indigenous languages ​​and the need to preserve them, revitalize them and promote them.

The General Assembly of the UN proclaimed 2019 as the International Year of Indigenous Languages, promoted by Bolivia and the Permanent Forum of Indigenous Peoples, to promote these means of communication at national and international levels.
