The President of the Council of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel, affirmed on Tuesday that Cuba’s doctors could never be defamed because of their humanistic work in different parts of the world.
The head of state responded to an article published this March 17 by journalist Nicholas Casey in The New York Times, which states that Cuban physicians present in Venezuela were allegedly used to pressure patients in the vote in favor of President Nicolás Maduro in the elections of May 20 last.
#Médicos cubanos jamás podrán ser difamados. Su
extraordinaria obra humana en tierras que el imperio llama “oscuros
rincones del mundo”, desmienten al #NYT y a su reportero Casey.

According to Díaz-Canel, it is a crime to feed the war of hatred that the Republican senator from Florida Marco Rubio is waging against Cuba and Venezuela.
Rubio has been one of the most active US politicians in the crusade that Washington leads to try to impose a change of regime in the South American country.
The article in The New York Times generated in the last hours a strong rejection in the Greater Antilles, known in the world for its solidarity, in particular that of its health professionals.

What the New York Times looks for
The pages of The New York Times have been messed up this weekend. And they have done it with the untouchable, the sacred for a country like Cuba, convinced that inclusive health, without distinctions of political creed are a right of every citizen, no matter the geography in which they live.

For his part, the Minister of Health, José Ángel Portal, said on Tuesday that solidarity cannot be blocked, in reference to the blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States government.
While the empire intensifies the genocidal economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba, our collaborators continue to take health to the most intricate corners of the world, said Portal on his Twitter account. He also recalled that for 55 years, Cuba has provided health cooperation in more than 120 countries, where some 400,000 health workers have been.
